ISanDan Jacob Franks started Karate in 1985 at the age of 13 with the U.S. Yoshukai system under Mike Sadler. In 1988 SanDan Franks acheived the
rank Shodan (First Degree Black Belt). He continued his training under Sensei Sadler with the Yoshukai International
system and studied with the likes of Jack Swift, Scott Self, and Mike Foster until 1991. At that time SanDan Franks moved to North
Alabama and trained off and on with a couple of different styles.
In February, 2007, SanDan Franks, his wife, and two sons began training with Shihan Camp. SanDan Franks earned the rank of
Nidan(2nd degree) in June 2007 under Sensei Nichols, and recently achieved his Sandan(3rd degree) ranking in September.
Over the years SanDFan Franks has competed in many tournaments in the Southeast, placing 1st in Katas, Weapons, and Sparring.
He now looks forward to helping other's achieve their goals.
Currently SanDan Franks' wife, and both son's are 1st degree black belts. His Mom and Dad are also Black Belts, so can be said that Karate is in our blood.
SanDan Franks started teaching at Guntersville Elementary two years ago, and now also teaches at Boaz Elementary. Helping the kids to become quality martial artist is
just one reward to SanDan Franks. Seeing them mature into more confident individuals is much more rewarding to him.
